Rigi Engineering specializes in designing sustainable water recycling systems to achieve NET ZERO WATER, the complete water independence in residential and commercial buildings. Our focus is integrating all water recycling systems including rainwater harvesting, graywater treatment, and wastewater recycling systems.

Rainwater Harvesting - the primary source

Rainwater harvesting from rooftops provides a clean water source for residential and commercial buildings with minimal treatment, significantly offsetting their total water use. Rainwater is the primary source for indoor water under the NET ZERO WATER concept. Connection to the municipal potable water system provides the supplemental water supply.

Graywater Treatment - outdoor irrigation

Graywater from showers, bathtubs, sinks and washing machines can be easily reused to irrigate landscaping and, if treated, can be used indoors for toilet flushing and other non-potable uses. Graywater is the primary source for landscaping irrigation, especially for buildings connected to a municipal potable water system. Except for mulched, gravity-based landscaping setups, graywater needs some form of treatment and maintenance when used with drip emitters and other pumping systems.

Wastewater Recycling - irrigation & disposal

Wastewater collected as both graywater [showers, bathtubs, sinks, washing machines) and blackwater (toilets, kitchen sinks, dishwashers) into an onsite septic system can be either conventionally disposed through leachlines or treated for reuse into the landscape irrigation system. Wastewater treatment is the optimal water recycling approach for buildings connected to well water.
